I absolutely love being outside, and even more I love being on the beach. I don’t care if it’s morning, day, evening, or a late night beach sesh. I love the feel of the sand on my toes, the ocean breeze in my hair, and salt on my skin. When I was asked to teach Beach Yoga I was beyond excited! Combining teaching and my favorite place, I knew it would be a great experience. Yoga is not only good for your body but also amazing for your mind and spirit!

Benefits of beach yoga:

^ Yoga on the beach strengthens not only primary but secondary muscles, the ones we don’t think about using every day. Think about the little muscles in your hips, feet, knees and shoulders that will help you stabilize in the sand your body has to work a whole lot harder than in the studio.

^ It is SO relaxing. It is a whole mind, body experience listening to the waves crashing and the unique sounds of the beach. The warm sun on your shoulders, face and the warm sand under your feet.  Finding stillness in your mind while settling into asanas.

^ Fresh air and sunlight are ESSENTIAL to the body! Fresh air has SO many benefits such as building the immune system, improving metabolism and giving one a sense of satisfaction by changing the serotonin levels in the brain. Sunlight helps decrease the chances of one obtaining cancer because it helps the body make vitamin D. The light from the sun is also helpful to those with SAD (seasonal affective disorder). There are also studies that prove high levels of vitamin D can decrease the risk of one getting multiple sclerosis (MS).
